Psychiatric Services & Medication Management

Specialized Care for Your Mental Health

If you’re feeling stuck with your mental health, you’re not alone. In Louisville, Kentucky, our practice in the St. Matthews area offers comprehensive psychiatric services, including medication management, to help reduce symptoms and improve outcomes. Medication can be a powerful tool when combined with ongoing psychotherapy, and our approach emphasizes collaboration to ensure your treatment goals are met.

Whether you prefer in-person visits or telehealth sessions, we provide flexible options for individuals ages 6 and up. Telehealth services are available to anyone located in Kentucky during their appointment time.

Our provider is experienced in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, irritability, childhood emotional and behavioral problems, and trauma. She is also experienced in diagnosing and treating ADHD across the lifespan, and offers both stimulant and non-stimulant medication options for treatment. She is especially mindful of women who have been misdiagnosed with anxiety throughout their life and trying to discern an accurate diagnosis. She also has further training in prescribing for pregnant or postpartum women. This is a special time in your life deserves specialized, knowledgeable care.

Psychiatrist vs. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: What’s the Difference?

Both psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) are trained to evaluate and treat mental health conditions, but there are key differences. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) with specialized training in psychiatry, allowing them to prescribe a wide range of medications, including controlled substances. A PMHNP, on the other hand, is an advanced practice nurse with specialized training in psychiatric care. While PMHNPs can also prescribe medications, some may have limitations on prescribing certain controlled substances, depending on state laws and their practice settings. Both professionals are equipped to provide high-quality mental health care, and the choice between them often depends on your specific needs and preferences.
